Little Maya was strapped to a giant runbber ring as I struggled to follow the singalong in German, while a large Austrian woman poured water over our heads from a plastic watering can.
Maya loved it and went off to the creche afterwards.
I took a Nordic walking class with Arnold. A strapping man with, sadly, a major sense of humour bypass, he clearly regarded walking as far more than just moving your feet in a vaguely co-ordinated way.
An hour later and we had established that while Austria’s scenery is superb, my talent for Nordic walking was limited.
‘Your problem is that your arms are just too short,’ said Arnold.
